Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3RS Racing Wheel

You've qualified on the front row of the grid. Nervous excitement runs down your spine as you hug the wheel of your race-prepped Porsche 911 GT3RS. The lights are off, you dump the clutch and get a great start off the line; the flat-6 engine screaming, the wheel juddering but you're not pushed back into your seat with the car's blistering acceleration. Your virtual tyres squeal away to glory as they pour virtual smoke all around your car.

Yes... it's a video-game, and it's probably the closest most of us would come to driving a Porsche 911 GT3RS around a race track, or rather any Porsche anywhere. For those of us who are happy getting our Porsche fix through our PC or PlayStation3, Fanatec has just released a game controller which features a steering-wheel and a three pedal setup modeled exactly from the controls of the Porsche 911 GT3RS. The genuine Alcantara leather wrapped steering houses a Mabuchi 550 series motor and a belt drive to deliver smooth force feedback to add to your virtual reality experience. The wheel also includes 14 buttons on the wheel rim, a three-step adjustable sensitivity and two additional vibration motors.

The wheel comes with large stainless steel paddle shifters, but can be upgraded to a 6+1 speed sequential shifter. The CNC machined aluminium pedals also feature a vibration motor, something that has never before been seen on a video game racing wheel. For those really big Porsche nuts, Fanatac also offers various optional Porsche accessories with the wheel such as the Clubsport Table Clamp and the RennSport Cockpit. Don't expect this fine piece of Porsche obsession to come cheap though. Only available through pre-order so far, just the default wheel and pedal setup will set you back by an equivalent of about Rs. 13,800.
